    What?!? No torpedo bays? Are you mad?…

    Swap a couple of the Impalers for torp’s. DE torpedo’s rule.

    The game I played (albeit with Chaos ships) taught me that torpedos aren’t really that great. Fighters and Bombers are more desirable.

    Naw. In human fleets, torps are more for area denial than actual damage. Imperials especially can launch huge salvoes of torps which can hurt you if you’re dumb enough to fly into their path, but otherwise are unlikely to hit unless fired at point-blank. Eldar and DE torps, OTH, will only be knocked down by turrets 1/6th of the time, as opposed to half. They also reroll misses, making them a hell of a lot more effective.

    The other thing I’d do is consider losing a few of the mimic engines in favor of more escorts. I personally put mimics only on one cruiser, and use it to flank early, while pushing the majority of my fleet up the opposite side of the enemy. With them unable to target the mimic equipped cruiser, it leaves them with the sorry choice of letting it come up their rear, or baring their backs to the rest of the fleet. So far, it’s worked very well. My list:

    One torture, launch bays, archon w/reroll

    one torture, torps, mimic

    four corsairs, torps (2) and impalers (2)

    three corsairs, lances

    total: 995

    I combine the impalers and torps in one squad to overwhelm turret fire, as turrets can only attack torps OR attack craft at a time, exposing them to one or the other. Since both are only hit on 6’s anyway…
