Wouldn’t it have been easier to simply shoot ‘em? Why go through the trouble of wrangling all those bizarre beasties when a blaster shot to the head would’ve made it so much simpler.

Oh, I know why they do it. It’s just silly, really. I mean, my complaint isn’t even really against Lucas. It’s about the whole trite notion that evil doers are really chumps. Now, I agree with your point that seeing the heros run down by irate predatory beasties is fun, but if I was running the show I would’ve staked ‘em out so they couldn’t swing their way to safety.
I should be an evil tyrant. I’m oh so qualified for the role.
