Largely Spam Free…
… again. I ended up wiping out about 24K spam messages. But as per usual I inadvertently wiped out some legit comments - mostly from Mephiston. That makes me sad. But then again, I think I’ll be able to sleep tonight anyway.
No commentsSpam Free
Fat fucking fat fucks! It took me almost 45 minutes to clear all the shite out of the comments here. Oi! I wish I had one of their heads for every stupid spam comment they’ve posted… Although I suppose it’d start to smell after a while.

DORK!
While certainly no where near as dorky as a miniature gamer/sci-fi freak, one might argue that a blog dedicated to a techy minded librarian is pretty damned dorky. Hence, please feel free to peruse and harrass Library Techtonics.
Ah, librarians… *drool.
2 commentsWelcome to our newest author!
I’ve justd up Dorky Goodness to a new author!!!! Yep, Drool Bucket of Danger Planet fame has graciously agreed to share some of his stunning insight (*sic) on the dorkiest site on the Internet.
Feel free to stay seated.
5 commentsForum Goodness
Okay, the internal communication system for Black Nova Traders is a bit rudimentary. It all but assumes you’ve got a forum set up. I didn’t so… I do now. It’s located at Dorky Goodness Forums. I’m not terribly happy with the forum software - too much stuff on the screen, but it’ll work for now.
One of the things I would like to see come out of the forum is some sort of documentation for the game. There isn’t any other than the FAQ and to be honest, it’s pretty weak.
Feel free to chat amongst yourselves. If the forum becomes more active perhaps we’ll expand it’s charter.
No commentsCode Fixed
Something was mucking up the CSS on the site so that the content below the right nav bar was truncated. I think I have it fixed on the index page. If not, let me know before I go and change all of my other templates.
No commentsRecent Comments
I just added a “Recent Comments” section to the navigation bar on the right hand side. Now you can see the last five entries that have comments.
Just out of curiosity, is there any other information that might be of interest on the comment list? I’ve tossed about the idea of adding the Author or the Date. Would that be cool or overkill?
No commentsI’m such a dork it’s scary!
I’ve added a new oddity to Dorky Goodness today. It’s a related content plugin for Movable Type called Waypath. The idea is that the plugin will parse Waypath’s database and find related content from other folk’s blogs. But as we all know, searching and correlating human information is sometimes wonky!
And Waypath is not an exception. I’ve noticed that some of the “related” content is anything but. Granted, Dorky Goodness is a bit on the outside as far as what most folks blog about and it’s likely that the algorithm is doing its best. Hell, the more “normal” the post (like stuff from the AP dad category) tend to return with good results. The posts in the dork/game category tend to be ridiculously irrelevant.
Ah well. I’ll keep it running for a while just for kicks.
You can see the related content for any given post to Dorky Goodness by going to the bottom of the page on any individual post. I didn’t implement it on the Index or archive pages because I didn’t want to mess up the formatting.
4 commentsI’m sucha dork
For some unknown reason I thought I needed a download manager. Why? Because it’s kinda cool. So if you look on the right hand side of the main window you’ll see all the downloads I have available on this site. What’s there now? Precious Cargo, my winning BFG scenario. What’ll be there in the future? More scenarios (think DP scenario writing contests, baby!) and other dorky stuff.
Sheesh. One would think I’d be ashamed.
