Cloth Diapers

So when we found out Laura was pregnant with the little bundle of cells that would eventually become the cutest baby in the Cosmos, I tentatively suggested that we use cloth diapers. Hell, it was good enough for me, why not for my little guy? Well, that idea was initially killed by the fact that there is NO diaper service in Boston and our preconceived notion of what a terrible pain in the ass cloth origami and pins would be. Of course the fact that we didn’t have a washer and dryer in our apartment certainly contributed to our initial decision to use disposable diapers.

Proud Dad

Last weekend, my little guy and I had our first road trip without mom. We took a drive down to PA to enjoy Ellie Schnell’s first birthday party. Ian was fantastic.

I was a little trepedacious at first. Ian’s only spent one night away from his mom - she took an overnight trip to NYC a couple of weeks ago and Ian and I held the fort. Considering how well that experience went, I figured that Ian was ready to go for a trip with me.

So, my concern centered around the amount of time we’d be in the car. It’s about six or seven hours down to PA and even more coming back. The last time we made the trip to Baltimore (for Games Day 2003), Ian didn’t handle the drive as well. Of course we attempted it late at night - Laura and I had hoped that he’d sleep most of the way but he didn’t. This trip however, was totally different. He slept for a good portion of the trip and when he wasn’t asleep he cheerfully looked around, pointing out various trucks and buses. He only cried for about 20 minutes each way. It was awesome.

So the good news is that Ian’ll be ready for Laura’s trip to Arizona in January. How cool is that?
